1968 - 1971 - Washington D.C.: Bonni moved to Georgetown on reservoir rd., where she lived with 3 other girls. She was an administrative assistant for the Republican National Committee. 1971 - Customs Years: In 1971 Bonni became a US Sky Marshal and rode planes principally between New York, Ireland and London to prevent skyjackings which were prevalent at the time. 1973 - Equal Employment Officer at Customs focusing on women's rights issues, but handled all types of EEO complaints 1977 - Became a Special Agent 1980 - Became a member of Operation Greenback - the first major money laundering operation against drug smugglers. This area would become Bonni's expertise. 1987 - Named Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa Office of US Customs. The first woman special agent in charge. She supervised the investigation into the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, which was taken down by federal authorities for misdeeds. 1995 - Named Special Agent in Charge of the Miami Office of US Customs. 1997 - Named Assistant Commissioner Office of Investigations - Bonni was the first female to hold this job. 1999 - Named Assistant Commissioner Office of Field Operations - Heading the largest arm of customs. She was moved into this job by then Customs Commissioner Ray Kelly, who not liking a Female in the "top cop" job, hoped she would fail at running Field Operations. She became a quick study and proved him wrong, and became an innovator in the job and was considered quite successful. She retired from this job in July 2002.
