Bonni in 1997

Bonni G. Tischler of Arlington, Virginia, formerly of Miami Beach, Florida, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer in the early hours of Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at George Washington University Hospital, Washington, DC.

She was born in New York on February 18, 1945 and grew up in Miami Beach Florida. She received her Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Communications from the University of Florida in 1966 and worked briefly in New York before moving to Washington, DC to take a job as an administrative assistant with the Republican National Committee. She was appointed to her first position with the U.S. Customs Service in 1971 as a Sky Marshal and later as an Investigator in the Equal Employment Opportunity Office before becoming a Special Agent in 1977. She furthered her education and received her Masters Degree in Management in 1995 from National-Louis University in Washington, DC.

Bonni was the first woman ever to head not only the agency's Office of Investigations in 1997 but also the Office of Field Operations in 2000.

In 2002, Bonni was awarded the Alumni of Distinction Award from the University of Florida.She worked for Pinkerton Consulting and Investigations as the Vice President for Homeland Security in Arlington, Virginia until her death.

Bonni leaves behind her mother and stepfather, Dr. Stanley P and Mrs. Anita M. Kessel (Frankel) of Hollywood, Florida, brothers Samuel G. (Suzanne) Tischler of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Andrew M. (Vicky) Kessel of Little Rock, Arkansas, niece Tammy Tischler and nephew David Tischler, also of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and nephew Douglas Kessel of Little Rock, Arkansas, a host of extended family and numerous loving and caring friends.
